Brett 'gank' Jungblut was born on February 28, 1979 in New Jersey's famous gambling mecca Atlantic City. Both of Brett's parents were poker players and named him after Brett Maverick from their poker TV show Maverick. Brett who already established himself as one of the top online poker pros, gained international recognition when he won the WSOP 2004 Omaha 8 or better world championship with a buy-in of $5,000 and a first place prize of $186,000.
Brett Jungblut's rise to stardom came as a member of the famous Crew who together took 'The Poker World by Storm' in 2004. ESPN's coverage of the crew during their famous run in the World Series of Poker in 2004 was well documented. The bracelet Brett won followed fellow Crew member Scott Fischman's 2 bracelets in no-limit holdem and horse, and Dutch Boyd's 2nd place finish to TJ Cloutier in Razz.
Essentially the crew, which no longer exists, was a group of guys who lived together in LA and each helped each other get better at poker through practice and critique. The crew's popularity even landed them in Rolling Stones Magazine under the title Poker's New World Order. Since then, Dutch Boyd won a bracelet in 6-handed No-Limit Holdem in 2006 heads up against the reigning 2005 main event champion Joe Hachem, and crew member Joe Bartholdi won the World Poker Tour $25,000 main event for $3,760,165.
