Liz Lieu was born on August 2, 1974 in Vietnam, but spent her childhood growing up in Colorado. She was first introduced to poker when she was 18 by helping a friend put together a home poker game. From there, her love for the game intensified and she started dealing in casinos and playing in $80-$160 limit games. Liz Lieu's best poker game is limit holdem, though she is also a force in no limit holdem games and tournaments as well. Liz Lieu now regularly plays in $400-$800 side games in California and Las Vegas while devoting an increasing amount of time to poker tournaments.
As an accomplished cash game player, Liz Lieu entered the tournament world at the urging of close friend and tournament superstar John Phan. That was the first event at the 2005 World Series of Poker where Poker Diva took 5th place for $168,500. The same year, she took 12th in the WSOP $5,000 No Limit Holdem event and made the money in the WSOP $3,000 No Limit Holdem event. Liz Lieu's remarkable 2005 run continued with a 4th place finish at the Bellagio's Festa Al Lago Tournament, $2,500 buy-in event and 16th in two other tournaments there. Afterwards, Liz Lieu made impressive top ten finishes in tournaments at the World Poker Finals, Five Diamond World Poker Classic, and the Gold Strike World Poker Open.
Liz Lieu first title came in 2006 at the Commerce Casino's L.A. Poker Classic $1000 limit hold'em event. Liz Lieu successfully defended her title in 2007 by winning the same poker tournament. Liz Lieu has won over $600,000 in live poker tournaments. The Poker Diva's aggressive style of play and drop dead good looks will make her a hugely popular force to be reckoned with in poker tournaments in the years to come.
