Marcel Luske was born March 20, 1953 and is from Amsterdam, Netherlands. As a very recognizable professional poker player whose popularity exploded with television poker always sporting his own fashion style. First, he wears upside down sunglasses. Secondly, he wears suits and ties when nearly everyone else plays poker in very casual clothing. One of his television interviews during the World Series of Poker, Marcel Luske said he only brought with him from Europe seven suits to wear, one for every day of the main event tournament. Marcel Luske also is recognized for his singing at the table, which goes with his very entertaining style. Many times he breaks into a song in the middle of a hand while his opponent is deciding what his course of action will be.
Luske finished 14th in the 2003 World Series of Poker WSOP Main Event and 10th place in the 2004 WSOP Main Event. Nearly making the final table in 2004, he received $373,000. Marcel Luske has live tournament winnings during his career in excess of $3,300,000.
One hand Luske is well known for on television was during during the 2004 World Series of Poker when he made an impressive read on his opponent and laid down his hand pre-flop, saying "Your kings are good". While the other player claimed he held ace-king, the TV hole card camera allowed viewers to see that his opponent in fact held pocket kings.
Another recognizable moment shown on ESPN television was when Marcel Luske helped Brett 'gank' Jungblut cut his dread locked hair and pick out a suit during a special make-over of a poker player. Brett walked into the main event with cameras roleing looking totally different from his well known hippie style.
